Accessibility

Almost 20 percent of the population has some type of disability.

Cisco routinely makes workplace modifications to accommodate its employees with disabilities. In addition Cisco's Accessibility Initiative helps the company design and implement networking products that are usable by everyone -including people with disabilities.

The initiative's objectives are to develop and implement the necessary processes to ensure that Cisco's products, architectures, websites and documentation are accessible to people with disabilities. Cisco's vision is to bring the benefits of the internet to all people. Accessibility design requirements are based on global accessibility and usability design requirements. As the basis for this initiative, these guidelines are used to evaluate Cisco's currently released designs and are used to create future accessible products, architectures, websites, and documentation.

As a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, Cisco is committed to complying with laws concerning making technology, websites and documentation accessible to people with disabilities. These mandates include Section 255 of the Telecommunications Act and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and similar international guidelines. Meeting the requirements of the accessibility regulations ensures everyone can use Cisco products. Cisco is working to make its internal products accessible as well.
