Telefonica

Telefonica, a telecommunications company, has 210,000 employees, 150 million customers, 18,000 suppliers and 1.5 million shareholders in 19 countries.  They are committed to eliminating communication barriers and improving social integration for disabled people.

  • There are 3.5 million disabled people in Spain - 9% of the population
  • 1 in 4 people are disabled or related to someone who is disabled
  • 1079 disabled people work for Telefonica
  • Targeted recruitment has resulted in 200 disabled people working in customer contact centres
  • Suppliers are required to meet legal requirements in labour market integration for disabled people
  • 60,000 employees volunteer every year to ATAM, the foundation focusing on disability.

Telefonica has four targets:

  • Full accessibility - Ensure accessibility of Telefonica and its products and services
  • Quality of life - Improve the quality of life of disabled people and make social integration a reality
  • Strategic alliance - with disability organisations and public administration
  • Awareness and communication - improve public awareness and eliminate communication barriers
